The plans for 2023 and beyond are as exciting as they are delicious - growing the product range to serve a growing community and scaling our teams. The allplants team is ready to scale their inclusive celebration of food to the next level and is looking for talent like you to join its journey.
The role:
This is a very exciting time to join allplants as we stand up our new retail business, with a view to it becoming our major growth engine. As such, we are looking to bring on an entrepreneurial Sales Lead who will stand up and build this new Business Unit to be a major contributor to our total P+L, developing retailer relationships and open up new listing opportunities. You will be a true sales operator; a proven talent willing to get stuck into landing listings and cutting deals, comfortable working with senior leaders as well as cross functional teams, with the potential to grow your remit as the company expands its commercial play.
What you'll be doing
- Commercial P+L Responsibility (Retail) - you will work with the Founder and Chief Brand Officer to deliver £NSV, £GP and distribution targets whilst playing a key role in the execution of all negotiations, and you will ensure the commercial and brand planning is in place to meet buyer ROS expectations.
- Proactive Joint Business Planning (JBP) - prepare, implement and monitor strategic plans to ensure sustainable value growth.
- Retail Activation - you will love getting hands-on with your brand and will plan/build-out and run in-store shopper activations, enlisting the support of the wider allplants team. Giving shoppers a joyful food experience and opportunity to try allplants is key to establishing rate of sale and successful long-term growth.
- New channels - the opportunity for allplants growth lays far beyond D2C and traditional retail. You will seek new seas of revenue growth across workplaces, catering, quick serve restaurants, food solution partners etc.
- Contribution to key business processes - weekly + monthly performance updates, customer demand planning, forecasting and risks + opps. Annual P+L planning and brand/channel planning.
- Be one step ahead - identify, define and execute growth projects enabling timely and well-targeted changes that anticipates the developing market.
- Team Leadership (indirect) - you will work closely with Finance, Brand, Operations and Food Development to ensure the best possible delivery against agreed KPIs and targets. You will also play a role in nurturing their understanding of the fast moving retailer landscape and shopper needs. You will share competitor moves, category insight and commercial insight as well as input to the development of plans [so you have what you need when pitching for new business as well as nurturing ROS growth where the listings are being activated].
- Team Leadership (direct) - you will be one of the first Sales/Commercial team members, also line managing a Field Sales role (being hired in parallel). As sales grow, you will have the opportunity to build out a small yet right-sized and high performing team to match the growth ambition and expectations of our first step into retail.
- Natural networker and relationship builder - you will be forging allplants on a new path and you will play a key role in establishing the brand reputation within
What you'll need
- Substantial experience working with buyers across a broad spectrum of UK retailers.
- Self starter, intense love of selling and landing the deal. You thrive on hunting down growth opportunities and landing new listings, ready to engage and enthuse the allplants story and mission.
- You bring a sense of humour, high energy, and passion for the plant-powered future we’re building; you will be a natural rapport builder.
- Excellent with numbers + can easily navigate through a commercial P+L.
- A team leader and team player; this is a new Business Unit within a largely DTC business, so you will be comfortable leading the Retail agenda internally, and working excellently with cross functional partners to find solutions to service retail needs. You will be as comfortable rolling up your sleeves as you are leading a team of indirect and direct reports.
- You have a bias to action, preferring an imperfect decision that triggers learning over no decision at all;
- You are a resourceful, data-driven leader, naturally entrepreneurial, with a track record of achieving exceptional delivery of results by building and motivating a great team around you;
- Able to apply knowledge of the industry and commercial awareness to deliver differentiated and profitable business and customer plans;
- Broad understanding of commercial and sales theories. Able to generate Sales Tools and Models (for internal and customer facing decisions);
